A warm welcome to all of the children in Year 6. Prepare for "Blast-Off" for what will be an out of this world experience. This term, we will be learning about space through investigations and first-hand experiences. Our trip to the National Space Centre will be on Tuesday 15th October. The following day will be our 'Space Day', where children may dress up in a space theme (more information will follow).
As part of our Space topic, we will be studying 'Cosmic' by Frank Cottrell Boyce. Please ensure your child has their copy ready to bring to school.
For the second half of the Autumn term, our focus will be on the Ancient Greeks. Lots of writing opportunities, artwork and research will be based around the Ancient Greek myths and their way of life. The main text that we will be using is The Odyssey by Geraldine McCaughrean.
Our New Year (Spring) topic is The Human Body. We shall investigate pulse rates, lung capacity, the circulatory and digestive systems and blood. In literacy, The Highwayman narrative poem will provide the starting point for several pieces of writing.
