Year 2

Our Music lessons are themed alongside our topic of Dinosaurs. We will build upon on the skills and knowledge in music each week.

In today's session we will be learning how to take part in singing accurately following a melody.

Task 1:

Today we are thinking about being musicians and singers. What do we need to be good musicians and singers?

Can you make a list of what we would need to be good musicians and singers?

Possible answers could include ideas such as:

We need ears for listening, eyes for looking at lyrics, mouths for speaking and singing, arms for playing instruments, brains for thinking about what to do and say.

Task 2:

Can you research (with the help of an adult) the meaning of the following words...

Task 3:

Can you learn the lyrics to two dinosaur songs and add actions to the songs too? You could record your performances and send them to your class teacher on class dojo.

An extension task is below for an extra challenge too.

In Key Stage One phonics is taught in phonics groups rather than classes. The phonics groups each work at a different ability level, therefore there are different phonics videos for each group. Your child will know who their phonics teacher is, but if you need clarification please message your child's class teacher on class dojo for confirmation.

Please see the links below.

Mrs Naylor's phonics group 22.1.21

Miss Daley's phonics group 22.1.21

Mrs Bull's phonics group 22.1.21

If you would rather not print then you could write some of words into two columns real words and nonsense words.

Mindfulness focuses on paying attention to the present moment (thoughts and feelings) as well as the world around you. This can improve mental wellbeing. The link below is to classical music which is aimed at children in order to support relaxation and mental focus.

Today's handwriting task is outlined in videos which can be found via the link below.

The resources needed to support the handwriting task are below.

SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)

Today our SPaG work will focus on sentence types such as; questions, commands, exclamations and statements. Have a look at the PowerPoint and then try the tasks sheet below too.

R.E (Religious Education)

Today we are going to be learning more about Judaism. What can you remember from last lesson?

We began to explore the importance of Moses and Abraham to Judaism. We also looked at a special symbol for Jewish people- The Star of David.

Our task for today is focused on the place of worship for Jewish people (the Synagogue) and how they show their beliefs. Watch the video link below to get you started.

Task 1:

Can you read through the PowerPoint about the Synagogue (see resource below)? What facts have you learnt?

Task 2:

Can you complete the place of worship worksheet (see below) using the information from task 1?

P.E (Physical Education)

As the weather begins to get colder we have decided to begin our yoga PE lessons. Today we would like you to try the yoga poses in this cosmic yoga video. We hope you enjoy your yoga lesson.

Live Show and Tell

We cannot wait to see what the children have been achieving at home. So choose something you would like to share from your week and bring it to our Zoom meeting.

The zoom meeting details will be shared with you on our class dojo page with our 'Live Show and Tell Rules'.
