Year 2

Music

Our Music lessons are themed alongside our topic of Dinosaurs. We will build upon on the skills and knowledge in music each week.

In today's session we will be learning how to take part in singing accurately following a melody.

Task 1:

Today we are thinking about being musicians and singers. What do we need to be good musicians and singers?

Can you make a list of what we would need to be good musicians and singers?

Possible answers could include ideas such as:

We need ears for listening, eyes for looking at lyrics, mouths for speaking and singing, arms for playing instruments, brains for thinking about what to do and say.

Task 2:

Can you research (with the help of an adult) the meaning of the following words...

-Lyrics

-Melody

-Song

Task 3:

Can you learn the lyrics to two dinosaur songs and add actions to the songs too? You could record your performances and send them to your class teacher on class dojo.

An extension task is below for an extra challenge too.

Phonics

In Key Stage One phonics is taught in phonics groups rather than classes. The phonics groups each work at a different ability level, therefore there are different phonics videos for each group. Your child will know who their phonics teacher is, but if you need clarification please message your child's class teacher on class dojo for confirmation.

Please see the links below.

If you would rather not print then you could write some of words into two columns real words and nonsense words.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness focuses on paying attention to the present moment (thoughts and feelings) as well as the world around you. This can improve mental wellbeing. The link below is to classical music which is aimed at children in order to support relaxation and mental focus.
