Welcome to Year 5 and 6 - 2025-26

A warm welcome to the year 5 and 6 page. Prepare to enter our wonderful world where anything and everything is possible and the sky really is the limit!

We are excitedly looking forward to the beginning of the Autumn term when our children will continue to develop their independent learning skills and progress towards the next step in their learning journey. During the Autumn term, in science, we will be learning about Space, including the Solar System, Moon phases and gravity. We will use the novel 'Kensuke's Kingdom' by Michael Morpurgo as a stimulus for many exciting writing tasks. Also in literacy, the children will be developing their non-fiction writing skills, especially balanced arguments and non-chronological reports.

In geography, year 5 and 6 will learn all about Island Survival - using maps to plan routes, the variety of climate zones around the world and how tectonic plates has shaped the Earth.

During this term, we will continue to develop the children's learning behaviours so that they can get the most out of every day at school. We will be embedding the School's Core Values: Be Kind, Be Courageous and be Respectful, as well as nurturing a love of learning and building our school learning behaviours of: Resourcefulness, Resilience, Reflectiveness, Reciprocity and Responsibility.
