PE and Sport Premium

Welcome to our PE and School Sport Funding Page

At Homefields, we are committed to providing high-quality physical education, school sport and opportunities for every child to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.

Our PE curriculum is Physical Literacy informed, recognising that physical education is about much more than developing sporting ability. We aim to help every child Move, Think, Feel and Connect through positive experiences of physical activity. By developing children's confidence, motivation, knowledge and understanding, we support them to enjoy being active for life. Inclusivity is at the heart of our approach, ensuring that every child, regardless of ability or experience, can participate, achieve and succeed.

For many years, schools received the Government's Primary PE and Sport Premium, which enabled us to enhance our PE curriculum, broaden the range of sporting opportunities available and invest in staff training, equipment and competitions.

Changes to Funding for 2026–27

From September 2026, the Government is introducing a new approach to school sport funding. Schools will receive a transitional payment for the Autumn Term, after which funding will move to the new PE and School Sport Partnerships Network. Rather than receiving the full annual PE and Sport Premium directly, schools will increasingly access specialist support, training, coaching and resources through their local partnership.

Homefields already works closely with the Derby City School Sport Partnership, through which we access high-quality professional development, competitions, coaching and a wide range of resources to support both pupils and staff. We will continue to make the best use of these opportunities to ensure our children benefit from an engaging, inclusive and high-quality PE curriculum.

Our Objectives

Our aim is to:

  • Engage all pupils in regular physical activity, helping children achieve the recommended 30 minutes of daily activity during the school day.
  • Develop physically literate children who are motivated, confident and equipped to enjoy being active throughout their lives.
  • Raise the profile of PE and sport across the school as a driver for health, wellbeing and whole-school improvement.
  • Increase the confidence, knowledge and skills of staff in teaching PE.
  • Provide a broad and inclusive range of sports and physical activities that enable every child to experience success.
  • Increase opportunities for children to participate in competitive sport while promoting teamwork, resilience and respect.
