New Beginnings - Autumn 1

Autumn 1

Welcome to Autumn term 1 at Homefields Nursery. Please see below for what we will be learning about this half term.

New Beginnings

This half term the children will be having lots of fun settling in to their new nursery life. The children will be learning the daily routines of the nursery and will also be learning the "Golden Rules".

The children will be taking part in lots of games/activities to learn the names of their new friends and to also learn how to be a good friend at nursery.

The children will also create a self portrait to display in the nursery......photos to follow on dojo!

During your child's first week at nursery, the staff will complete a 5 day observation form which will include daily notes of what your child has been getting up to. This will then be shared with you and we ask that you add your own comments about your child's transition.

Nursery Rhymes

During the Nursery Rhymes topic, the children will have the opportunity to share their own favourite rhymes with their friends as well as learning new rhymes.

Activities in this topic range from drawing/painting favourite characters from rhymes, using construction skills to build a wall for Humpty Dumpty, exploring colour mixing when creating mice from Hickory Dickory Dock, counting how many ducks went swimming one day and also using  scissor skills to make a crown for the Queen of Hearts.

Autumn

The children will explore Autumn. They will learn about the changes that occur in this season and will be encouraged to look for signs of Autumn during outside play.

The children will use their creative skills to finger print autumn trees, colour mix with red and yellow paint to create leaves, create patterns by rolling conkers and acorns dipped in paint and also create leaf rubbings.

The children will practice their counting skills using natural resources and will also practise their handwriting skills by creating patterns on leaves.
