Welcome to Spring Term 2 at Homefields Nursery.

Please see below for what we will be learning about this half term. 

Construction Vehicles

We will start this half term with our Construction Vehicles topic.

The children will learn about different construction vehicles and learn new vocabulary associated with them. 

The children will help the teachers to create a construction site role play area in the garden and will be encouraged to work as a team to think about the objects they will need in it. They will be encouraged to act in role as builders and use their developing writing skills to write lists and labels during their play. 

The children's artistic skills will be encouraged with a range of activities, from creating paintings of construction vehicles, using the wheels of vehicles to create track patterns and also take part in junk modelling to make their favourite construction vehicle.

We will also explore forces (with particular focus on pushing and pulling), create a class pictogram to find out which vehicle is most/least popular and use our developing gross motor skills to complete an assault course in the garden. 

We will continue with our phase 1 phonics and we will be challenging the children to take part in a phonics homework task each week. (information regarding this will be sent out on dojo nearer the time).

STEM week 

During the week commencing 13th March, we will be taking part in a whole school STEM week. During this week the children will develop their scientific, maths and design skills. The theme for this week will be farming. 
The children will take part in a range of activities including, learning about the lifecycle of chickens, creating paper mache eggs and also creating designs on the eggs. The children will develop their measuring skills by using scales to weigh different farm animals (not real ones……toys!!)
